Family Vacation Day 8: March 7th, 2020 Driving Home/Iron County

We woke up this morning around 7:30. We started to pack up our stuff, fed the baby, and then went down for breakfast. After that we finished packing and loaded up the van. We didn’t get on our way until about 9:15/9:30.

We started our Iron County sight seeing at the Cedar City temple, it was a cute but small temple. From there we went to Discovery Park and then to the inland lighthouse. We made sure to swing by SUU for a photo before heading to the visitors center. The gal at the visitors center was very helpful. She handed me an envelope full of information that will be useful when Lucas starts putting together his report.

We made our way over to Parowan Gap after that so that we could see the petroglyphs. It was pretty cool. Definitely something to see at least once in your life if you are a Utah resident.

After the petroglyphs we went into Parowan city to stop at the visitors center. It was a tiny visitors with a cute old lady behind the desk. She directed us to some good pamphlets about Parowan and we went on our way.

For lunch we ate sandwiches and “the best cinnamon rolls in the west” at Parowan Cafe. It was an adorable little mom and pop cafe. It marked the end of our sight seeing for the day.

On our way back to the freeway we stopped to get gas at Maverick. Around 3:00 we stopped at Maverick in Fillmore to feed the baby. I bought a couple of slushes for us to sip and the boys were overjoyed!

We got home about 5:45. Zyven had been yelling and complaining for about 15 minutes at that point and even though we were home and got him out of his seat we couldn’t console him until he had been fed and changed and snuggled. Or theory is that he had just had enough and was letting us know. Lol.

We did a bunch of laundry and unloaded most of the van. Everyone was glad to be  home. We kept the boys off of electronics and sent them outside to enjoy the nicer weather. Dinner was a random mixture of leftovers and stuff from our trip. Eventually we were all tucked into our own beds all snug and cozy. <3 Sometimes there’s no place like home.

Family Vacation Day 7: March 6th, 2020 Driving Home

We got off to a slow start today. Most of us woke up at 7:45 when baby was yelling at us that he wanted to eat. It took about two hours to gather up all of our stuff and load it into the van. I can never understand why it takes so long.

We got to breakfast at the hotel with about 20 minutes to eat. That is not nearly enough when you are at a buffet. We managed to eat a few things, made a pit stop and got on our way about 10:15. This is a bit later then I usually like but at least we aren’t driving clear home today.

About noon we stopped for gas and got pizza at Pizza Hut for lunch. The employee there was so helpful and friendly. It made me glad that we stopped there.

Around 3:00 we stopped for more gas and to feed Zyven. We were at Costco so we went inside to walk around a bit and stretch our legs. We very nearly forgot to change Zyven’s diaper before getting on our way again.

Upon our arrival in Cedar City at went straight to The Pizza Cart and ordered dinner. It was a 35 min. wait for pizza so we went and checked in to our hotel and unloaded the van. Brandon was sweet enough to go back out to pick up our food.

I gave Zyven a bath shortly after Brandon left and ended up getting baby wash on his face. I had poured some in my hand and when I went to set the bottle down it fell. I must have tipped my hand when I grabbed for the bottle because when I looked back at Zyven it was on his nose and around his mouth. Poor guy. I had to wipe him off really good and in his mouth a bit. He was gagging on the taste of it a bit. I felt so bad. It has been quite a long (but fun) week for all of us.

While we ate and got ready for bed we watched Madagascar 2. That movie is full of silliness. We finally got everyone settled about 9:30 and Aiden was the last kid to fall asleep about 10:00.
